An effective antibiofilm strategy based on bacteriophages armed with silver nanoparticles
Antibiotic resistance in pathogenic bacteria is a major issue in modern medicine. Using lytic bacteriophages and metal nanoparticles as therapeutic strategies is gaining attention. A study found that T7 phages armed with silver nanoparticles showed greater efficacy in controlling bacterial biofilms compared to phages or nanoparticles alone. The combination of lytic phages and phage-bound silver nanoparticles is an effective, synergistic, and safe strategy for treating bacterial biofilms.
